Federation Consultation

CONSULTATION FOR THE PROPOSED FEDERATION BETWEEN MANORSIDE AND TUDOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

May 2015

The Squires Lane Learning Federation

Growing Together, Learning Together

An Interesting and Exciting Opportunity for Our Community

Dear Parents/Carers and our community,

The recent feedback following the confirmation that Manorside is to accept a bulge class in September 2015 highlights the concern that parents feel as a rising demand for places puts pressure on our local schools.

This concern is shared by the Governing Body and Staff of Manorside but also demonstrates that there is a real need for cohesion in the community and a need for schools to seek solutions to maintain an excellent provision in the local community and build on success.

It is with these challenges in mind that the Governing Bodies of Manorside and Tudor Schools have both voted to propose a federation in order to provide the best possible education to local children. Therefore this is a shared and collaborative process which puts the best interests of local children and their education at its heart.

The Federation Consultation Document available by following the link below sets out our shared vision and how we think this federation could work and what it would mean for children, parents, staff and the local community.

The timetable for concerns and feedback for all those with an interest in the schools is as follows-

8th of May – Consultation Period Begins

19th May 9.00am – Open Meeting at Tudor School

20th of May 9.00am – Open Meeting at Manorside School

9th of June 6.00pm to 7.00pm – Presentation and Meeting at Tudor School

19th of June 12.00pm – Consultation Period Ends

26th of June – Decision Notice Delivered by the Joint Governing Bodies

Should the decision be to proceed with the proposal then the intention is for the federation to be effective from the 1st of September 2015.

Further documents explaining the process and with guidelines and FAQ are available by following the links below, together with information about ways that you can make your views about the proposal known to the Governing Body.

The Senior Leadership Teams and Governing Bodies of Manorside and Tudor Schools are behind the proposal to federate and believe that both schools will see long term benefits through a close partnership.

However we need your feedback to ensure that the school community is fully engaged and understands and appreciates the potential gains and vision for the future collaboration. Ultimately this is a proposal to enhance the pupils’ school experience and attainment through shared resources and experiences and your feedback will have influence.

There are a great many challenges facing community schools around the country and the London boroughs are under particular pressure. However through federation we are seeking to ensure that the local primary provision is under the control of the community.

Yours sincerely

David Fox

(Manorside's Chair of Governors)
